Makeover That Stikes A Chord

LOGITECH has given its cordless keyboard a style make- over.

A thin profile, new colours and more function keys are features of the keyboard in the Cordless Freedom Optical package, which also includes a wireless mouse.

Logitech's cordless products use digital radio technology, which means the peripherals can communicate with a hidden base station even on a cluttered desk. The devices have a two-metre range and aren't affected by cordless phones or other appliances.

The keyboard in the Cordless Freedom package has `control zones' with dedicated function keys.

An iNav module on the left-hand side of the keyboard allows users to switch between open applications; scroll, zoom and select; cut, copy and paste; or access files.

A set of `Internet zone' keys on the top right-hand side of the keyboard give access to frequently used Internet functions such as e-mail, the home page and search engines. A similar group of keys on the top left of the keyboard can be configured for personal applications such as e-banking or web chat.

The Cordless Freedom Optical package sells for $249. It requires a USB port or two PS2 ports. It is compatible with Windows 3.x, 95, 98, 2000 and ME. Some functions need at least Windows 95 and 98.
